01:32:33 - HO rolling stock weathering & detailing, vol 2 (TSG 2010)
Description:

FROM TSG MULTIMEDIA - Presented in HD format for TMTV members!

TSG Multimedia's Dan Cortopassi covers patching and re-stenciling, along with aging real and simulated wood grain. Dan also shows replacing crude factory details like out-of-scale stirrup steps with more finely scaled steps, along with adding photo-etched parts, doing free-standing grab irons, and installing better brake detail under the car. Dan also tackles loads for those flatcars and gondolas.

Dan covers a wide range of weathering techniques including washes, powders, paints, and even colored pencils.

NOTE: This video was produced in 2010 using standard definition video. We have upsampled it to HD, but the video appears soft and may have a few moire patterns occasionally. Even so, the techniques illustrated are quite valuable -- we believe you will agree this video series, even at the old lower resolution, is packed with helpful rolling stock examples.

This video is produced by TSG Multimedia. If you would like to get this video as download-to-own, or to check out their other videos, please see the TSG website or the TSG free monthly podcast on YouTube.

When I view recent "primary" videos using the Chrome browser I nolonger get a timeline (how much of the video remains), a volume control and the ability to go to full screen.

When I view using the "alternative viewer" the above mentioned features are present.

Is this something you are doing on purpose?

This is a bug in older versions of Chrome with the standard player, which is a player we purchased from a third party software development firm. We've updated Chrome to the most recent version here and it's working good again. So try upgrading to the most recent version of Chrome ... we're on 57.0.2987.133.

Browsers are so fun. Just when you get things working well they change something in the next release and you get to start all over again!

I checked I was using the latest bersion of Chrome.  Whatever you did worked because everything is as I expect.  Thanks for your help.  Ron

When you are airbrushing and you roll the car back & forth, I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish or avoid. Please explain.

Dan is trying to avoid a "shadow" on the wheels. If he did not roll the car around, there would be a very distinct dark area on the wheels where the weathering spray would not be applied. The part of the wheels up behind the truck side frames would get missed and the wheels would have very distinctive dark stripes.

By rolling the car around on the wheels, the weathering spray gets more evenly applied to the wheels. That's what the rolling back and forth is all about.
